Our Latte Recipe
I've had a love affair with tea since I was a little girl, I remember my grandmother always having a large pitcher of fresh assam black tea with fresh oranges and lemons with lots of pulp and seeds in the refrigerator ready for anyone to drink. It is there I formed a natural love for tea, as I aged and really understood the benefits that earth naturally gives us I delved deeper into understanding different herbs and their healing properties. I wanted to find a way to blend the work of health and healing with the world of classy and fancy. This gave way to a curiosity of its own birthing my love for trying classic blends and adding new age flare birthing new blends. With these new blends I am often asked how to drink certain blends and for recipes, the most popular is the latte. Here is a recipe you can add to brighten any tea time.
My Latte Recipe:
Two teaspoons of tea, 3/4 cup of water and 1/3 cup of milk (whole, oat, or almond) and 1 teaspoon of your sweetener of choice (optional), we like rock sugar and honey with added cinnamon on the froth
You can make a latte with any tea however it is best used with chai and green tea.
Frothing at home:
To recreate that perfect, cafe-quality steamed milk at home, use an electric milk frother it heats milk and froths all at once.
In order to froth milk with a French press be sure to heat your milk on low on the stovetop. Once little bubbles start forming along the sides, take off heat and pour milk into a French press. Pump the plunger up and down a few times until milk has doubled in volume.
How to:
Step 1: Boil water (bring water to a boil on the stovetop)
Step 2: Combine tea and water (use a teapot with an infuser to easily separate the herbs)
Step 3: Cover the teapot for 5-8 minutes
Step 4: Strain leaves and leave to cool
Strep 5: Froth milk
I am using an electric milk frother which heats and froths milk at the same time.
Step 6: Pour your tea in a desired cup then top with frothed milk, garnish with cinnamon
Step 7: Enjoy & use #myfarmacybrew to show us how you latte.
Note: Chai and Matcha green tea make really tasty tea lattes since they go so well with milk.
